The Samsung QN90A has mini-LED backlighting allowing the TV to get extremely bright whilst providing a great contrast ratio and local dimming.  The TV is great for gaming with support for FreeSync, variable refresh rate (VRR) and G-SYNC.  The TV also has low input lag and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Here are some of the stand-out features:

  • Features Neo QLED technology that looks almost as good as OLED.
  • The mini-LEDs behind the screen are 40x smaller than a standard LED according to Samsung.  This means more LEDs can be packed in there, giving a more precise illumination.
  • The TV has a slick and ultra-thin bezel with the screen going right up to the edge.
  • There are channels around the back of the TV to hide the wires.
  • The solar panel on the remote can charge with indoor lighting or sunlight.  The remote can also charge using a USB lead, eliminating the need to replace the batteries.

Does Samsung QN90A support Dolby Atmos?

The Samsung QN90A can pass Dolby Atmos signals through to a receiver using HDMI eARC.

Does the Samsung QN90A have Dolby vision?

The Samsung QN90A does not support Dolby Vision.

But the TV performs great without this format using HDR10 and HDR10+.

Is the Samsung QN90A good for gaming?

The Samsung QN90A is an excellent gaming TV with support for HDMI 2.1, a refresh rate of 120Hz@4K and supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR).  

The input lag on this TV is also excellent.  According to Rtings, the input lag is just 5.3ms at 4K resolution and 120Hz in game mode.

The Samsung QN90A also has a feature called the “Game Bar” and is activated by holding down the play button.

This allows gamers to get instant statistics such as frames per second (in real time), VRR status and input lag.

The Samsung QN90A supports HDR10 and HDR10+ using Samsung’s Quantum HDR 32x.

This provides an excellent peak brightness of 1800 nits in normal modes and in gaming mode, it peaks at 1862 nits (Rtings.com).
